Creativity and University Changes towards Co-Creation Paradigm

In general, creativity involves generation of new and useful ideas, it has been regarded as a one drive to develop innovation. With the increasing complexity in practice of organization innovation, recent studies have addressed to changes towards a co-creation paradigm, while creativity is one of the key elements. The co-creation based view of value creation views organizations as creating value together with stakeholding individuals. The co-creation is a joint creation and evaluation of value with stakeholding individuals, intensified and enacted through platforms of engagements, virtualized and emergent from ecosystems of capabilities, and actualized and embodied in domains of experiences, expanding wealth-welfare-wellbeing. This requires value creation strategies to call for a new spirit of discovery, involving experimentation, analysis, consolidation of gains, and further exploration. The co-creation-based view has influenced much in higher education reforms and university changes. There are growing arguments highlighting roles of students’ active participation a range of student engagement, student-centered learning and enquiry based learning initiatives. In educational practice, the models of co-creating curricula design can be found in diverse educational areas. Furthermore, strategies of developing creative universities and unfolding a social-ecological imagination of future universities have been addressed. Accordingly, attention should be paid to what are the institutional barriers and how to overcome those barriers in order facilitate university changes towards a co-creation paradigm.
