The concept of technological literacy refers to the learned skill of adopting and combining practical technical knowledge with social and cultural understanding, making it possible to make competent choices and see opportunities of implementation, use, and application of new technologies in a professional context.    

Research is conducted in primary schools and hospitals and includes a perspective of lifelong learning as cultural learning processes. It equally includes a perspective of employee-driven innovation.
